Step 3: Get creative

 

This is the most difficult step. You must have a vision for what you are about to create. Arches are very difficult to master and take time. there are 2 ways to do arches. The first one is to use just the snow and water combination. You build outward from the column 1 ft at a time and let it freeze. After 3 days, you can bridge the gap and it becomes an arch. The 2nd way is to take a slab of ice and set it on top of 2 columns. This can take 2 or 4 people due to the weight of the slab. Once the slab is in place, make sure to pack snow around it so that it arches. Arches are what give the ice castle it's strength and the ability to make it a multi-story structure.
